Fire breaks out at at bottling factory

DENVER (KDVR) –A fire broke out early Sunday morning at Rocky Mountain Bottle Company in Wheat Ridge, according to Arvada Fire Rescue.

Crews responded to the scene, which is off Miller Street and West 50th Avenue, at 12:54 a.m.

According to Arvada Fire, a malfunction caused hot liquid glass to spill in the facility, putting out heavy smoke and fire.

All employees evacuated and were accounted for. Five workers and one first responder were evaluated on the scene but not transported.

More than 50 firefighters battled the fire in hot, dark and noisy conditions.

Crews reportedly had to carry hose lines over large distances in order to reach the fire within the facility.

The fire was put out after a few hours. Due to the challenging nature of the fire and work environment, crews rotated working the fire in order to rest and hydrate.

In addition to Arvada Fire, Fairmount Fire Protection District and West Metro Fire Rescue aided in battling the fire.
