Financial firm to put roots down with Med City office

May 26—After establishing a foothold in downtown Rochester, a Wisconsin financial management firm is working on building out a permanent Med City base on the north side of the city.

Baird opened a temporary private wealth management office at 332 S. Broadway in April. Now the company is moving forward with plans to build out a 3,000-square-foot permanent office in an under-construction complex at 2575 Commerce Dr. NW.

"We plan to move into this permanent space in early 2022," said Karen Heintz, branch manager and regional market director for Baird's Private Wealth Management business.

Heintz said the office will be led by veteran financial adviser Jim Galkowski, who comes to Baird from Wells Fargo Bank. Senior Client Specialist Jill Roux will also be based in the office.

Baird will join Huber Eye Care as a tenant on the first floor of a two-story complex being built on the corner of 26th and West Circle Drive Drive Northwest. Smith Schafer & Associates accounting firm will occupy the second floor.

North Rock Real Estate is building the complex as a next-door twin to its office building at 2519 Commerce Dr. NW, which opened in 2019.

"Given Baird's Midwestern roots, we have long had an interest in opening an office in the thriving city of Rochester to complement our other Minnesota offices in Edina, Minnetonka and St Paul," Heintz stated previously about entering the Med City market.

Milwaukee-based Baird's Private Wealth Management business employs more than 1,300 financial advisers in more than 160 locations in 33 states. It represents client assets of more than $215 billion.
