Final run of Dodge Vipers scooped up by one dealership
The Dodge Viper is ready to bow out. The 2017 model year is the last for the ferocious beast that roars around racetracks with a V-10 heart beating loudly under its hood. A 25-year run for the Viper has been marked with plenty of highs and certainly a few lows, and the most recent generation proved to be a marked improvement over its previous generation. If you're interested in one of the final few vehicles coming off the assembly line, you're going to have to talk to one smart dealer.
According to Jalopnik, Gerry Wood Dodge has snatched up the final 135 or so Dodge Vipers that will be produced by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. This dealership, located in Salisbury, North Carolina, is now responsible for 99 percent of the remaining cars.

To make these cars a bit more special, Gerry Wood Dodge apparently put together a team to comb through the more than 8,000 color choices available to Viper shoppers. From there, a number were given certain color combinations and certain options so as to give these cars limited-edition-like status.
Jalopnik reached out to the dealership for more information on the order. It would seem like an easy opportunity to slap a big 'ole dealer markup on the stickers of these Vipers. Apparently, however, that's not the plan. Gerry Wood Dodge says it never marks up cars over MSRP. The plan here was just to make sure that the orders for the final batch were filled and the cars were produced.
If that's the case, then we say three cheers for Gerry Wood Dodge. Dealer markups are bad. A bunch of Vipers you want to make sure are built, then sell at MSRP? That's good.
