Diamond was among the 11 firefighters who were hurt on Feb. 16 when a house in the 300 block of Silver Ridge Dr. exploded following a reported gas leak. Two other people were hurt. Firefighter Trevor Brown, 45, died in the explosion.

The fire marshal’s office determined the reported leak, which came from an underground propane tank, was , in fact, responsible for the explosion. As a result of what happened, fire officials restricted Southern States Cooperative, Inc.’s delivery and transfers less than a month later. Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office (LCFR-FMO) said that it was working with representatives from the company to “review and update the company’s fire code related information.”

In its post about Diamond leaving the burn center on Wednesday, Sterling Volunteer Fire Company said: “He still has many challenges ahead, but this is such an important milestone! There will be an increased law enforcement presence at Station 18, and probably helicopters, as we welcome Brian home. Please be patient, and please keep Brian, his family, and the first responder family in your thoughts.”
