Final Fantasy 6 now on iOS devices

After being released on Android three weeks ago, Final Fantasy VI has finally got an iOS release. Just not the release we were expecting.

FFVI has been a cult favorite ever since it hit the SNES in 1994. At that time it was known as Final Fantasy III in North America, but as time progressed and the game was released on other platforms, the name Final Fantasy VI was universally adopted.

This iOS adaptation resembles the 2007 Game Boy Advance remake. You won’t find any new additions to the game, but if you want to replay this classic game you can now do it on your phone. But unexpectedly, right now this iOS version is only available in select countries including Japan and New Zealand. Final Fantasy games usually hit the US Apple store before being released to smaller stores like New Zealand’s, which makes me wonder what Square Enix is thinking.

The game will no doubt see a much larger release as time goes on, but currently you can get FFVI at the Japanese Apple store for 1,800 Yen ($18) or check out your local Google Play.
