Film trailer: Tom Cruise in 'Rock of Ages'

The second trailer for Rock of Ages was released April 2 and features Tom Cruise as rocker Stacee Jaxx belting out a version of Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive."

Based on the hit Broadway musical about the late 1980s glam rock scene, the tale follows a small town girl with big dreams who falls for a rock star. The film version is adapted by the director Adam Shankman (Hairspray).

The all-star cast includes Russell Brand (Get Me To the Greek), Alec Baldwin (It's Complicated), Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Legend of Zorro), Paul Giamatti (The Hangover), Julianne Hough (Footloose) and singer Mary J. Blige.

The footage shows a fast-cut series of excerpts following the wild rock music scene behind the scenes, highlight Baldwin's humor as a club impresario, Giamatti as a crazed manager, Cruise as a narcissistic rock star with a monkey, and Zeta-Jones as an anti-rock crusader.

The musical soundtrack in this 2:30 minutes includes classic hits of the era including Journey's "Any Way You Want It," Joan Jett's "I Love Rock and Roll," Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," David Lee Roth's "Just Like Paradise" and more.

Rock of Ages debuts June 1 in Hong Kong, followed on June 13-15 in France, Australia, the UK and European markets and North America. It continues rolling out through August, hitting Japan in September.
