Fields presented two awards

May 1—RIPLEY COUNTY — At the recent Indiana Pharmacy Association's Annual Meeting, Denise Fields, local pharmacist and pillar of the healthcare community, was awarded two awards: the Beyond Dispensing Award and Indiana Society of Health System Pharmacy's Fellowship Award.

The Beyond Dispensing Award is presented to recognize and honor a pharmacist, pharmacy technician or student pharmacist who has demonstrated excellence in expanding the practice of pharmacy outside the traditional practice setting boundaries of dispensing and distribution.

The Indiana Society Health-System Pharmacy also presented the Fellowship Award. This fellowship program was begun in 2021 to give recognition to pharmacists who have shown a great commitment and excellence in hospital-based pharmacy.

Dr. Denise C. Fields, a Ripley County resident, serves as an ambulatory care and population health pharmacist at Ever North's Cummins LiveWell Center in Columbus. With extensive experience spanning more than 30 years across community, hospital, and managed care settings, Dr. Fields is board certified in Advanced Diabetes Management and Lifestyle Medicine. She holds numerous professional certifications, including Immunization Delivery, Diabetes Care, Anticoagulation, and Pharmacogenomics, among others.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Fields is deeply engaged in advancing team-based healthcare and patient advocacy. She has held leadership positions in various pharmacy associations, including serving as Past President of the Indiana Pharmacists Association and the Indiana Society of Health System Pharmacists.

A Fellow of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, Dr. Fields has been instrumental in initiatives such as the Indiana Pharmacy Practice Advancement Initiative Task Force and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine's Pharmacist Member Interest Group.
