Ferne McCann has been in a 'constant state of stress' since Arthur Collins' acid attack

Earlier this week, Ferne McCann broke her silence after her ex-boyfriend, and the father of her newborn daughter, Arthur Collins was found guilty of carrying out an acid attack in April of this year.

The new mum revealed that her thoughts are with the victims of the attack, with her rep going on to say that the former The Only Way Is Essex star is focusing on being the best mother that she can to baby Sunday, who was born earlier this month.

Now a source has come forward to claim that despite putting on a brave face in public, Ferne has been in a “constant state of stress” since the attack, working even more than usual in a bid to provide for her daughter.

Speaking to The Sun, the insider explained: “The last six months have been so tough on Ferne. There have been times when we’ve all been so worried about her because of the constant stress she’s under.

“She’s putting on a brave face for everyone else, that’s why we’re worried about her.

“We all know she’s been put in an impossible situation, totally out of her control and is left picking up the pieces and we think it would help her to open up and talk about how’s she’s feeling. She’s not talking to anyone about this and that’s the concern.”

The source went on to insist that Ferne doesn’t want any “sympathy” from the public, also revealing that the reality star has been “pushing herself” – even working on the day that she gave birth to baby Sunday because she’s worried about being the “sole provider” for her child.

Arthur will be sentenced next month.

On Monday [13 November], Arthur Collins was found guilty of five counts of grievous bodily harm with intent, and nine counts of actual bodily harm against 14 people, with more than a dozen revellers left with life-changing injuries following the attack in Mangle nightclub in Hackney, East London on 17 April.

Speaking in a statement, Ferne’s rep said: “Ferne’s thoughts are of course with the innocent people caught up in the events at Mangle last April. No one should ever be faced with violence on a night out.

“Having given birth days ago, Ferne is focusing on being the best mother she can be. She long ago accepted that she would be doing this alone and is determined to provide the best possible future for her daughter.”

Arthur previously confessed to throwing the liquid but insisted that he did not know that it was acid, instead believing that it was a date-rape drug.

He will be sentenced on 19 December.
