Hoping to increase parking access and better manage congestion, the study aims to identify potential improvements to the program.

In 2024, the city had around 3,500 approved parking permits. About 57% of permits were residential; 40% were visitor permits; and 1% were contractor permits.

The study will be discussed at the traffic commission meeting on May 14 at 4:30 p.m. in Polite Council Chambers, 120 North Duke Street. A study open house will follow from 5-6 p.m.

There will also be a virtual presentation via Zoom on May 16 at 7 p.m. Registration is required.

Residents, business owners, and contractors can also provide feedback and learn about the study via Engage Lancaster. That will be available through May.
