Federal Signal posts 4Q net income of $4.8M after loss a year ago tied to charges

OAK BROOK, Ill. (AP) -- Federal Signal Corp. posted net income of $4.8 million for the fourth quarter, a reversal from a loss a year ago that stemmed from hefty one-time charges.

For the quarter ended Dec. 31, Federal Signal's profit amounted to 8 cents per share. A year ago, it lost $15.2 million, or 25 cents per share, in the same quarter. The prior-year period included 36 cents per share in losses from discontinued operations.
