Federal grand jury charges Menominee County man with crimes related to 3 fentanyl overdoses

KESHENA, Wis. (WFRV) – A federal grand jury returned a three-count indictment charging a Keshena man with crimes related to three fentanyl overdoes on the Menominee Indian Reservation, one of which was fatal.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the three-count indictment against 41-year-old Warren Grignon by a federal grand jury was returned on February 27.

According to court documents, on or about December 23, 2023, Grignon allegedly distributed fentanyl to three different people while at a location on the Menominee Indian Reservation.

Authorities say that one of those three died as the result of using the fentanyl allegedly provided by Grignon, and the other two were revived but sustained ‘serious bodily injury.’

The indictment charged Grignon with the following:

  • Distribution of a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death

    • Mandatory minimum of 20 years in prison, up to life in prison

    • Up to $1 million fine

  • Two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Substance Resulting Serious Bodily Injury

    • Mandatory minimum of 20 years in prison, up to life in prison

    • Up to $1 million fine

The Menominee Tribal Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case with assistance from the University of Wisconsin Hospital Pathology Department.
