FDNY fights large fire in Brooklyn: officials

BUSHWICK, Brooklyn (PIX11) — FDNY members are fighting a fire at a Brooklyn building, according to officials.

Ann-Marie Gibson said she hadn’t made it home yet when her Bushwick apartment of 24 years went up in flames. Thankfully, everyone in her house made it out safely from the fire she said is believed to have started in the nearby supermarket before spreading to the neighboring apartment buildings, although fire officials are still working to determine the origin.

“I was out, thank you, Jesus, but my son and father and brother-in-law was in the house,” Gibson said.

The FDNY posted on social media that around 200 fire and EMS personnel were on the scene of the fire at 1385 Bushwick Ave.

Officials told PIX11 News that four residential buildings and one commercial building have been affected. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
