Fayette County man sentenced for failure to register as a sex offender

OAK HILL, WV (WVNS) — An Oak Hill man was sentenced to prison for failure to register as a sex offender.

Ohio man sentenced for drug crime in Fayette County

29-year-old Matthew Buckner, of Oak Hill, was sentenced on May 6, 2024 to one to five years in prison for the felony offense of failure to register as a sex offender required to register for life.

On March 13, 2024, Buckner pleaded guilty to the felony offense of failure to register as a sex offender required to register for life, and he will need to serve his sentenced back-to-back with the sentence he is currently serving for a parole revocation. After Buckner finishes serving his current sentence, he will need to serve an additional year in prison before being eligible for parole.

Fayette County woman sentenced for felony drug crime

West Virginia State Police Troopers performed an address verification on July 14, 2023 for Matthew Buckner’s house in Oak Hill. Once Troopers were at Buckner’s house, Buckner told them that he made a Facebook page in his name and it needed added to his registry.

Buckner did not report the updated registry information to the West Virginia State Police within ten days as required by state law.
