Fayette County man charged with Child Neglect and Wanton Endangerment

OAK HILL, WV (WVNS) — An Oak Hill man was charged with Child Neglect and Wanton Endangerment after a road rage incident in Fayette County.

According to the West Virginia State Police, Senior Trooper S.A. Wickline responded to a shooting complaint in the 5500 Block of Robert C. Bryd Drive in Mount Hope around 12:10 p.m. on March 26, 2024. Senior Trooper Wickline discovered that no one was injured and that medical attention was not necessary.

The press release stated that 44-year-old Michael Williams, of Oak Hill, allegedly fired a shot into the air before fleeing the area. He was later found at 1918 Summerlee Road in the Oak Hill area of Fayette County.

Senior Trooper Wickline determined that a road rage incident was the cause of the shooting, and that Williams’ one year old grandchild was with him when the incident occurred.

Williams was charged with Child Neglect and Wanton Endangerment in Fayette and Raleigh County.

Fayette County man convicted of first-degree murder

The West Virginia State Police stated that the investigation is ongoing.
