Father, 2 sons facing charges connected to shooting on Long Island: police
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (PIX11) — A fight led to a shooting Saturday on Long Island, resulting in a father and his two sons facing charges, according to officials.
During the fight around 5 p.m. near 30 Old Mill Court, Kevin Cooper, 56, allegedly had a handgun in his hooded sweater pocket. Police said he accidentally shot himself, causing injuries to his stomach.
Meanwhile, Kevin Cooper, Jr., 34, allegedly pointed a gun at a woman, 50, who told police she was in fear for her life. Police said he hit the woman with the gun. She was treated at a hospital for unspecified injuries.
Cooper’s other son, Devin Cooper, 27, then chased after a man and fired two shots at him, according to police.
The men were arrested and charged with the following, according to police:
Two counts of criminal possession of a weapon
Reckless endangerment
Criminal possession of a weapon
Criminal possession of a firearm
Criminal possession of a weapon
Cooper Jr. was also charged with assault, according to police.
