This time of year is tense for TV fans, as networks hold the axe over the heads of numerous shows, and decide whether to renew them or cancel.

It's good news for those of you who like the Tim Allen-led sitcom Last Man Standing. Fox has renewed it for another season, which will be its eighth, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

Fox saved the show last year after ABC dropped it after six seasons. The publication states that the sitcom has improved the viewing figures for Fox's Friday 8pm timeslot by 112%.

Interestingly, Fox is now owned by The Walt Disney Company, who also own ABC. So in a sense, it's come back home.

Tom Allen is quoted in a statement as saying: "Hard to believe Last Man Standing hits 150 episodes this week and it gets better with another upcoming season at Fox!

"Great news for all of us who are creating these stories and working our pants off to make you all laugh. It’s another big high-five to the legions of loyal fans who have faithfully kept us front and centre and huge on the radar. Thanks to our family at Fox who continue to make us feel so at home.

"Man, if we keep this up, they might have to call our show, Last Man Unable to Stand."

5Star airs the show in the UK.
