He was fatally struck by a van in Little Havana. The van’s driver took off, cops say.

Geovany Merlos Ramos was crossing Southwest Eighth Avenue in Little Havana Saturday night when he was hit by a van.

Ramos, 39, was rushed to a nearby hospital, but died from his injuries.

Police said the driver of the van — a white, Dodge Ram Van 1500 with no windows on the rear sides, circa 1999 to 2002 — never stopped to help Ramos.

On Tuesday, the department shared a photo of a van similar to the one believed to be involved in the crash in hopes of finding the driver.

The accident happened at approximately 8:40 p.m. in the area of Southwest Eighth Avenue and Second Street.

The van, police said, was heading north on Southwest Eighth Avenue when it struck Ramos.

“Detectives need assistance on locating the vehicle and the suspect driving the vehicle in this crime,” police said in a news release.
