Fat-Shamed Miss Universe Gets Back At Donald Trump

"Miss Piggy Can Vote"

Former 1996 Miss Universe Alicia Machado is making headlines in the world of politics. Recently, the Venezuelan actress and TV host announced that she is officially a citizen of the United States, and what better timing than with the presidential elections coming up this November.

Machado won Donald Trump’s now-controversial Miss Universe beauty pageant back in 1996, becoming the fourth Venezuelan to win the title. As young as 19-year-old, she said Trump would taunt her about her weight, calling her names like “miss piggy” and “miss housekeeping.” In an interview with Howard Stern, Trump also publicly called Machado an “eating machine,” triggering a heap of depression for the former beauty queen. Today, she is content in knowing she’ll be able to fight against the man who tore down her self esteem through the power of a voting. On social media, she shows her allegiance to democratic candidate Hilary Clinton, and makes it a point to rally up as many Latino voters as possible.

Teasingly, Machado Instagrammed a photo of herself with the caption “Miss Housekeeping and miss Piggy Can Vote.” Clearly, she’s grown to love the skin she’s in regardless of what the general public has to say. Candidate Hillary Clinton took to Twitter to congratulate and support the former beauty queen.
