‘Fargo’: Ray, Nikki Make Sex Tape In Episode 5 Trailer

Ray (Ewan McGregor) and Nikki (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) come up with an ingenious plan to get more money from his brother Emmit (also played by McGregor) in next week’s Season 3, episode 5 of “Fargo.”

The trailer for the episode shows Ray and Nikki preparing to shoot a sex tape with Ray disguising as Emmit once again. “Let’s makes a sex tape, maybe in a cowgirl or doggie scenario, nondescript,” Nikki tells her boyfriend in the preview clip.

The couple then sends a copy of the sex tape to Emmit with a message that read: “Pay us $100,000 or we show your wife.” Emmit’s wife Stella (Linda Kash) finds the CD and the message, but it looks like Emmit is done with Ray’s games and has no intention of giving his sibling anymore money.

“Pay the damn money and pray that I was satisfied!” Ray tells Emmit over the phone.

“You’re dead. Do you hear me?” Emmit replies.

In Season 3, episode 4, Ray and Nikki seemingly lost their potential bridge sponsorship with Burt Lurdsman after Ray ditched their meeting following his termination from his job as parole officer. With no one to sponsor Ray and Nikki’s bridge games and Ray’s abrupt termination from his job, it makes sense why the lovers try to get more money from the Parking Lot King of Minnesota.

Also in the trailer for episode 5, V.M. Varga (David Thewlis) — together with his henchmen Yuri (Goran Bogdan) and Meemo (Andy Yu) — confronts Emmit’s right-hand man, Sy (Michael Stuhlbarg), about the meeting he had with police officer Winnie Lopez (Olivia Sandoval) last episode. At the end of the preview clip, Sy seems to have witnessed a horrible crime perpetuated by Varga’s crew. Sy rushes to safety and calls Emmit, saying: “It’s worse than we thought.”

Perhaps what Sy saw will completely convince Emmit to sell his company to Ruby Goldfarb, who will make her debut in next week’s episode. Ruby will be played by “Battlestar Galactica” veteran and “Major Crimes” star Mary McDonnell. According to Entertainment Weekly, Ruby is “the so-called storage queen of The Great Lakes region … who offers Emmit … a way out of the mess he’s in.” As mentioned by Emmit last episode, Ruby is a widow who is “cash rich and looking to buy” Emmit’s parking lot business.

“We all love the show, but when you get the scripts and see the specificity of [showrunner Noah Hawley’s] work, he has this way of being simultaneously real and practical and mysterious at the same time,” McDonnell told the news outlet of what drew her to the FX series. “I feel so lucky. I’ve been in outer space [in ‘Battlestar’] and worked for the LAPD [in ‘Major Crimes’] and now been out in the prairie. And in each instance, you can’t believe how specific the world is. Everything in ‘Fargo’ resonates with me in terms of the type of America this is — how the people speak, what their lifestyles are like, how they interact with dilemmas. It’s all regional and absolutely specific to that world.”

Elsewhere in episode 5, Gloria (Carrie Coon) and Winnie start connecting the dots on the Ennis Stussy’s (Scott Hylands) murder case. “The fella with his head caved in, he was hired by another fella to rob somebody,” Gloria tells his partner Donny (Mark Forward). “His brother,” adds Winnie.

“Fargo” Season 3, episode 5, titled “The House of Special Purpose,” airs on Wednesday, May 17 at 10 p.m. EDT on FX. Watch the trailer below:
