Fares for prepaid Reno-area bus passes to drop

RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Beginning Monday, fares for prepaid passes for the Reno area's public bus system will drop by about 7 percent.

The new fares will be $3.75 for a 10-day pass, $16 for a 10-ride pass, $19.50 for a seven-day pass and $65 for a 31-day pass.

Reduced rates for the passes will be available to seniors born before 1950, disabled riders and youth between the ages of 6 and 18.

Reduced rates will be $1.75 for the 10-day pass, $8 for the 10-ride pass, $9.75 for the seven-day pass and $32.50 for the 31-day pass.

The Regional Transportation Commission board, which approved the new fares, says buying bus passes is the most economical way for riders to travel.
