Start — Darren Sproles — Running Back

Almost for lack of a better option, Darren Sproles gets the start this week. Going against a run friendly Cincinnati Bengals defense, Sproles should see action both rushing and catching the football this week, something that will make him a definite dark horse in the world of fantasy football.

Despite Wendell Smallwood getting the start last Monday night for the Eagles, Sproles saw the majority of the game action at tailback. With Sproles now likely a bit more healthier for this week’s contest, that gap should climb to new heights. Add to this that Sproles is becoming Carson Wentz favorite option and you may have a recipe for success.

Again though, this start from me comes for a lack of better options. Jordan Matthews — while playing — is still recovering from an injury he sustained last week. We all know how bad the receiving corp has been otherwise and this has all had a negative effect on Carson Wentz. Stick to Sproles and try to avoid everyone else.

Drop — Jordan Matthews — Wide Receiver

While Jordan Matthews will be playing this Sunday — we think — for the Eagles, he is still coming off an injury that took him out of last Monday’s loss against the Packers early. On a short week, this means one less day to recover from said injury. In my mind, the risk of starting him and seeing him leave the game early or be a non-impact is far to great.

With Paul Turner getting his second game with the team and the other receivers likely to get a second look this week from Carson Wentz, Jordan Matthews will not see his normal production in my mind. While I could be wrong, again, I say the risk of starting him is not worth it coming off a short week.
