The Chicago Bears visit their old rivals the Green Bay Packers this week on Thursday Night Football. Here is a look at who to sit and who to start in fantasy football.

Quarterback: Drop Brian Hoyer, Sit Aaron Rodgers

The party is over for Hoyer owners, who was held out of the end zone last week despite another 300 yard performance. The Bears are on a short week going into Lambeau Field against the Packers, who are only allowing 17 fantasy points per game at quarterback. Next week it’s the Vikings, followed by a bye week. That means it’s time to sell high on Hoyer and look for QB points elsewhere.

Rodgers is having arguably his worst season since becoming a starter in 2008. He’s only thrown ten touchdowns to go with four interceptions and is averaging a mere 234 passing yards per game. After last week’s dud against Dallas Rodgers has dropped to the #13 ranked QB in fantasy football. Historically he has played well against Chicago at home but he’s on a serious cold streak and Thursday night games tend to be less reliable than average. This might be a good week to start your backup.

Running back: Sit Jordan Howard, Sit Knile Davis

Even after Ezekiel Elliot ran for 157 yards on the Packers they are still allowing the fewest fantasy points per game to RBs in the NFL. Opposing rushers have averaged just three yards per attempt against Green Bay and have only scored one touchdown. In other words, this is not the week to start rookie sensation Jordan Howard.

With both Eddie Lacy and James Starks ruled out the Packers made a trade this week for Kansas City’s Knile Davis. The Bears are only allowing 14.5 fantasy points to running backs and there’s no guarantee that Davis will see the kind of touches he needs to be a contributor in Mike McCarthy’s offense. If you’re one of the eight people around the country who own Davis he should be on your bench.

Wide receiver: Sit Alshon Jeffery, Start Cameron Meredith, Start Jordy Nelson

The slide continues for Alshon Jeffery, who has not scored more than 11 fantasy points in a game this year and still has yet to catch a touchdown. Keep sitting him. On the other hand, Cameron Meredith is a veritable waiver-wire star. Over the last two weeks he has caught 20 passes from Brian Hoyer, tallying 243 yards and a touchdown. The Packers are giving up the most fantasy points at wide receiver this year, so Meredith is a fantastic flex option and may be worth WR2 consideration.

Chicago’s corners don’t have the size to match a guy like Jordy Nelson outside. The last time Nelson had a favorable matchup like this came Week 3 against the Detroit Lions, when he caught six passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Similar numbers are within reach against the Bears. Randall Cobb has been limited by a back injury of late and his production has fallen off. That makes Nelson the only Green Bay receiver who should be played this week.

Tight end: Sit Zach Miller, Sit Richard Rodgers

Zach Miller had a promising rapport developing with Hoyer but his numbers have dropped off the last few weeks due to a lingering rib injury. Unless your team is absolutely desperate for help at tight end, it may be time to sell on Miller as well.

On the other side, Richard Rodgers has all but disappeared this season. Even with Jared Cook ruled out last week he only saw three targets from the other Rodgers. Until he proves that he’s going to see more touches he’s not worth a play.

Defense: Sit Bears, Sit Packers

Chicago’s defense is ranked 15th in fantasy football points and Green Bay’s is right behind them. There’s no reason to believe either will be worth a start any time soon. Good luck!
