Family wants answers one month after unsolved Prichard murder

PRICHARD, Ala. (WKRG) — Today marks one month since a man was killed after a shooting at a Prichard motel. Family members are asking people to come forward to help solve this murder. Family members say 46-year-old Adrian Mitchell was a kind man who was loved by his family. Today they’re also urging Prichard Police to work harder to charge whoever is responsible.

This started with a shooting at Moody’s Motel on March 2nd. Police say Adrian Mitchell was shot there after getting into some sort of fight with whoever shot him. Mitchell’s body was found just about a block away, off St. Stephen’s Road behind the motel. Most of his family lives in Georgia. They say they’re frustrated by what seems to be a lack of progress in this case and worry that no one has been charged. They say someone out there knows more about this case and just needs to come forward.

“If you want better things in your community, you can’t be afraid to speak out of things that’s not right in your community. You cannot. And if you see things and you’re afraid to talk to the authorities, then you need to develop the is why you are afraid so they can provide better protection for you and the community,” said the victim’s sister Myra Prease. “I feel like the city of Prichard needs to provide better protections for their community.” It’s a frustration shared by another sister.

“It’s like we don’t matter. One life does not matter,” said Audreyia Law. Family members say Adrian Mitchell was dedicated to the people around him. Days after the March 2nd shooting, Prichard Police asked the public for help finding a person for questioning. We don’t know if Prichard police have cleared that person. I reached out to the police department for more information and am still waiting to hear back.
