Family pet saved in Accomack house fire

ACCOMACK, Va. (WAVY) – The Parksley Volunteer Fire Company responded to an overnight stove fire in Accomack on Thursday.

According to officials, crews were notified of a residential fire on Lilliston Avenue at approximately 9:38 p.m.

Crews arrived to the scene to find heavy black smoke spilling out of the house. The fire was considered extinguished within two and a half hours.

An investigation revealed the cause of the fire was due to a stove fire.

No injuries were reported, and the family pet was saved and returned to the owners.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
