Family of five left without home following storm in St. Martin Parish

ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. (KLFY) — Tiffany Mudd and her family have been tenants in a mobile home just outside of Breaux Bridge and Cecilia for the past six years. They now have to find a new place to live after high winds from Monday night’s storm knocked the entire house off of its foundation.

“You can’t live like that,” Mudd said.

Mudd and her family were at a graduation on Monday when the storm hit St. Martin Parish. The majority of the damage was dealt under the home where the structure was blown off its pillars. The front deck and the front door are completely separated, making it very difficult to get in and out the house. Damage was also done inside the home. She said her landlord came, assessed the damage and said it is unlivable because there is no foundation.

“With a mobile home, It [foundation] is everything,” she said. “There is nothing you can do once its bent like this.”

With a family of five, Mudd said they are struggling throughout the process of finding the necessary needs to restart.

“Just real stressful because, I mean, you have to start gathering funds to get storage and move everything out,” Mudd said.

Now Mudd is asking for help from anyone to find a new place for her and her family to live. She also set up a GoFundMe page for help.
