Family entertainment center lines up former Mantua food store

MANTUA TWP. — A family entertainment center appears headed for touchdown here in time to open sometime this summer, its owners hope.

A Monster Mini Golf franchise plans to carve out 18,000 square feet from a long-closed Shop N Bag supermarket at the Timberline Shopping Center on Woodbury-Glassboro Road. Local zoning officials approved a variance recently, contingent on the developers next submitting a compliant site plan for review and approval. A submission date for the plan is not set.

Cherry Hill couple Bob and Randi Lister are the developers. “Mantua’s just a perfect location, as there’s no family entertainment centers down there, at all,” Robert Lister said.

The Listers and a partner opened a Monster Mini Golf in June 2019 in Cherry Hill, making it the first such franchise in South Jersey although there are several in the upper part of the state.

“Right now, at our Cherry Hill location, we have an arcade, our mini-golf course, four lanes of mini-bowling, and the virtual reality room,” Lister said. “We’re going to have two main attractions in this location, which will be the mini-golf and the laser tag. Having two main attractions is going to do really well for us, we think.”

Lister said the franchise is geared strictly to families.

"We don’t have alcohol," Lister said. "We don’t have a café and griddle for food. So, it’s truly just a family entertainment center to bring all ages, to come by and have fun."

The supermarket is about 30,000 square feet in size and closed about 15 years ago. The shopping center is at 660 Woodbury-Glassboro Road, near Route 55.

Timberline is "super excited" about the new business, an attorney for the owner said.
