Fallen horse rider rescued from Northern California forest

(FOX40.COM) — One person was transported to a Northern California hospital on Sunday after falling from a horse in Nevada County, according to the CAL FIRE Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit.

Crews from Smartsville and Penn Valley Fire were called to the remote area of southwest Nevada County for reports of a medical rescue.

When first responders located the rider, crews found the rider had significant injuries from the fall and determined them to be non-ambulatory.

After providing the fallen rider with medical care, the fire crews carried out the patient with a stokes wheel gurney to a waiting ambulance.
