Falcons WR White 'certain' for Sunday

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White said he will play Sunday's season opener against the New Orleans Saints, despite sitting out the team's last two preseason games with a sprained left ankle.

White declared Thursday that he is "100 percent certain" he will play. He has started 128 straight games at wide receiver for the Falcons.

"You know, come Sunday, I'll be ready to go," White said on the team's official website. "My adrenaline will be pumping. It's football. Once you get out there, you've gotta just go play."

White practiced on a limited basis Wednesday for the first time since sustaining the injury in an Aug. 15 preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.

White said his consecutive games started streak was not considered when deciding to play Sunday's game.

"I never thought about (the streak), really," he said. "You just go out there and football players play football, so you don't think about whether you're going to miss a game or you're not going to play and things like that. When you have the opportunity to play, you just play."

The 31-year-old has six consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons.
