Falcons sign LB Howard; waive Chaney

The Atlanta Falcons tweaked their linebacker depth chart by signing Thomas Howard and waiving Jamar Chaney. Safety Sean Baker was also signed to the practice squad.

Howard was a second-round pick by Oakland in 2006 and has appeared in 93 career NFL games, including 78 starts. He played in Cincinnati last season.

Chaney was signed on Sept. 17 and saw action in one game.

Baker was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the spring as an undrafted rookie out of Ball State. He has spent time on the Bucs' practice squad this season.

Baker set a school record with 18 interceptions while adding 320 tackles, 39 passes defensed, 19 tackles for loss, and two sacks in four seasons at Ball State.
