Entering Week 13, the Atlanta Falcons continue to lead the NFC South division by one game over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to team records, the Falcons face their toughest team of the remaining schedule on Sunday in the visiting Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs are currently second in the league’s best division, trailing the Oakland Raiders. After defeating the Broncos last week on a banked field goal, the Chiefs are hoping to secure the division title in order to reach the playoffs and secure an opening round bye.

Kansas City has won six of seven since their bye week, winning in every form fashionable. Most notably, by winning the turnover margin and creating multiple opportunities for their offense. If the Falcons can win the turnover battle, it is likely that they will put themselves in good position to win the game on Sunday.

Falcons’ wide receiver Julio Jones is always a threat to opposing defenses. Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid joked during his weekly press conference that he hopes Jones, “misses the team bus.” Obviously presenting matchup problems, Jones will draw the coverage of Marcus Peters for the majority of the game.

Taylor Gabriel had a break out game last week taking two short throws for touchdowns by outrunning the opposing defense. Going back a few games, Gabriel has also displayed his speed down the field and should get a few chances again on Sunday to display his play making capabilities.

Further, Mohamed Sanu has been having a quiet season thus far, but has performed when healthy and given the opportunity. With Gabriel’s recent success and Jones’ formidable presence, Sanu could be in line for multiple opportunities as the Chiefs focus their defense elsewhere.

On their home field, the Atlanta Falcons high-powered offense will again be on display. While the defense may give up some points, the Kansas City offense will be unable to keep pace with quarterback Matt Ryan and company. Despite defensive play and a few turnovers, the Falcons continue to set the standard in the NFC South division with another victory.

PREDICTION: Falcons – 31, Chiefs – 24
