Fake drug sale set-up leads to arrest, 10 bags of fentanyl

CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a man was arrested after a drug sting led to 10 bags of suspected fentanyl being seized.

According to the Carbondale Police Department, on February 17 a confidential source informed officers that a man identified as Ryan Hilbert, 28, in Carbondale, was selling narcotics in the City of Carbondale and Simpson area.

Police say a fake drug sale was set up and Hilbert was arrested on the scene. Hilbert admitted to having a methamphetamine pipe, and a bag of crystal meth on him, officers said.

After the arrest investigators stated further search revealed 10 bags of suspected fentanyl and a syringe in Hilbert’s possession.

Hilbert was charged with various drug offenses.
