Fairfax County police investigating fatal motorcycle crash

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The Fairfax County Police Department said a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist was being investigated.

The crash happened Sunday around 11:10 p.m. at the intersection of Leesburg Pike and Glen Carlyn Drive.

A preliminary investigation showed the driver of an Acura was heading westbound on Leesburg Pike. He tried to make a left turn onto Glen Carlyn Drive when his car was hit on the passenger side by the motorcyclist who was eastbound on Leesburg Pike in the left through-lane.

The motorcyclist, Alejandro Portillo, 19, was taken to the hospital where he died. The driver of the Acura was not hurt and he remained on the scene of the crash.
