Fairfax County police arrest Florida men for series of car break-ins

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) arrested two Florida men for 10 car break-ins at different county parks.

FCPD said that officers responded to many reported car break-ins between May 23, 2022, and March 27, 2024. The break-ins took place at different parks in the West Springfield District.

Some of the victims reported that their credit cards were used at different stores after the break-ins.

FCPD said that detectives identified 43-year-old David Daniel Moraga-Nunez and Jonny Marcelo Sandoval Barraza as suspects using “surveillance footage, License Plate Reader Technology, and a review of credit card transactions.”

Officers arrested the pair at a motel in Springfield on Tuesday. Both men were charged and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where they were held on secured bonds.
