Failed robbery suspect leaves his own money behind

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — An attempted grocery store robber was so fast to flee the scene after an alarm was raised that he forgot his change, according to police.

It happened just after 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the Save A Lot grocery store along South Arlington Street, according to a news release from Akron police.

The suspect, described as a white man standing about 6 feet tall and wearing a mask and a black hooded sweatshirt, approached the counter to buy something.

He then told the clerk he had a gun and threatened to shoot the clerk while demanding money from the register. The victims did not actually see a gun, the report notes.

One clerk sounded the alarm, causing the suspect to run out of the store without any money from the till, and without collecting the change from his purchase.
