Are Instagram and Facebook still down? See if worldwide outages impacted you
Several social media platforms run by Meta were down Tuesday morning, according to Downdetector.com.
Facebook, Messenger, Threads and Instagram reported tens of thousands of outages beginning around 10 a.m. As of 12:09 p.m., Instagram appears to be back online, with users able to log in and refresh their feeds.
At 2:27 p.m., Facebook's login status page marked the outage as "resolved" and said services had been restored to its platforms.
During the outage, Facebook users were greeted by a "session expired" error message when using the app, while Messenger and Threads users were also unable to log in or use the service.
According to Facebook's login status page, Facebook login suffered a "major disruption" starting at around 10:17 a.m.
What has Meta said about global social media outages?
At 10:52 a.m., Meta spokesperson Andy Stone released a statement via X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. "We're aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now," he said.
He later released another statement at 12:19 p.m. when services were beginning to be restored.

Facebook Outage Today
Facebook's outage reports reached 183,731 as of 10:42 a.m., according to Downdetector. Seventy-five percent of users reported issues with log-in, 17% reported issues with the app and 8% reported issues with the website.
Instagram Outage Today
Instagram's outage reports peaked at 89,330 at 10:30 a.m., according to Downdetector. Sixty-two percent of users reported issues with the app, 27% reported issues with their feed and 10% reported issues with log-in.
Instagram's services appeared to be mostly restored around noon on Wednesday.
Messenger Outage Today
Messenger's outage reports peaked at 12,182 at 10:34 a.m., according to Downdetector. Fifty-nine percent of users reported issues with log-in, 26% reported issues with the app and 15% reported issues with sending messages.
Threads Outage Today
Meta's Twitter-like platform Threads was also down Wednesday morning, with 894 outage reports at 10:26 a.m., according to Downdetector. Sixty-three percent of users reported issues with the app, 26% of users are reported issues with the website and 11% of users are reported issues with the server connection.
