Fabian, Accam lead Union to 2-0 win at Cincinnati

Goals by Marco Fabian and David Accam lifted the visiting Philadelphia Union past FC Cincinnati, 2-0, in a steady rain on Saturday.

Accam added an assist for the Union, who won their second in a row after starting the season 0-2-1. The Union are also unbeaten in three straight.

Union goalkeeper Andre Blake earned the shutout.

FC Cincinnati dropped to 2-2-1 and had a three-game unbeaten streak snapped.

In the 25th minute, Fabian received a corner kick and sent a right-footed shot just wide of the net. Fabian had missed the previous game, a 3-0 win over the Columbus Crew, because of a one-game suspension.

Roland Lamah appeared to give FC Cincinnati a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute, but he was whistled for being offsides.

The Union led 8-0 in corner kicks through the first 39 minutes but the game remained scoreless.

In the 42nd minute, Cincinnati's Kekuta Manneh struck a strong shot from the left side of the box. The shot was partially blocked and never made it through to the net.

Fabian broke the deadlock in the 47th minute. The Union came out very aggressive and it resulted with an early advantage.

Lamah had another strong scoring opportunity in the 51st minute. After controlling a pass into the box, he turned and fired a shot only to be denied by Blake.

Accam scored in the 58th minute for a 2-0 Union lead, giving him three goals in the last two games.

FC Cincinnati struggled for much of the final 30 minutes of the game. They managed a corner kick in the 89th minute after finally generating some offensive pressure, but it was quickly cleared out of the box.

In the second minute of stoppage time, Philadelphia forward Cory Burke had a clean look in the box, but shot the ball just wide.
