FAA lifts ground stop for all Alaska Airlines flights

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The FAA issued a ground stop for all Alaska Airlines flights on Wednesday.

The airline said in a statement that an issue arose “while performing an upgrade to the system that calculates our weight and balance,” according to NBC News.

The ground stop was approved for all flights from Alaska and its subcarriers beginning just before 11 a.m. The FAA cancelled the ground stop at around 11:50 a.m.

Social media posts indicate some passengers had been sitting on planes at the gate for hours while receiving little information from Alaska Airlines staff.

“We’re working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” the airline said in a statement obtained by NBC News. “We apologize for the inconvenience and encourage guests to check the status of their flights on alaskaair.com or the Alaska App prior to heading to the airport.”
