Ezekiel Elliott will play Sunday after all, after another court decision

If you’ve lost count of how many times Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension has been on and then off again over the past couple months, you’re not alone.

Just when you thought Elliott was going away for six games, he’s back again for at least one game. According to Daniel Wallach and other reports including NFL Network’s James Palmer and ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Elliott has been granted an administrative stay. Long story short: He’ll play on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. The stay is effective for just Sunday’s game, Wallach said.

Elliott was suspended six games in August for a domestic violence incident, but due to various court decisions he has played in every game this season.

The NFL had filed to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals asking for the stay. Earlier this week, Elliott was denied Elliott’s motion for a preliminary injunction, and it looked like his six-game suspension was finally going to be served.

According to Wallach, a three-judge pane will decide Elliott’s latest motion on expedited basis. Elliott and the NFLPA have appealed the denial of the preliminary injunction. If Elliott wins that appeal, there’s a good chance his suspension will not be served until at least next season.
