Extra construction expected for I-565 near Exit 10 in Madison

MADISON, Ala, (WHNT) — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has announced that there will be extra construction along I-565 on Thursday morning.

According to ALDOT, contractors will be pouring concrete for the foundation of the future westbound off-ramp at Exit 10. Contractors excavated a hole in the median and tied steel bars to reinforce the concrete bridge footing that will be poured on Thursday morning.

Officials say that more than forty truckloads of concrete are expected to be poured surrounding the rebar and locking into the natural rock.

ALDOT is asking that drivers reduce speed and remain alert for trucks entering or exiting the median of I-565. Drivers should also be prepared to stop or move over as needed.
