News broke this morning, December 11th, that authorities are responding to an explosion at Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City — right by the iconic Times Square. The bus station is one of the busiest commuter hubs in the city.

According to authorities, one person is allegedly already in police custody, and that person may be injured. Early reports also indicate that the explosion may have been due to a pipe bomb that went off earlier than intended.

A witness on the scene named Francisco Ramirez told CNN that he heard two explosions as he was exiting a bus at 7:45 a.m. ET. He said,

“From what I saw it sounded like it came from the subway, but I’m just guessing. It was two distinct explosions seconds from each other. As I was making my way toward the outside, I kept getting shoved by cops and there were cops at every entrance blocking and there was police and SWAT everywhere.

“It was scary. It was just a lot of chaos but I didn’t see any injuries.”

More to come.
