Expect detours: Section of I-215 to close this weekend for bridge repairs

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A portion of eastbound I-215 will be closed throughout the weekend of March 9-10 to allow for UDOT crews to conduct facilitate bridge work on 300 West.

The eastbound lanes of I-215 will be closed between the I-15 interchange and State Street over the weekend. While UDOT crews did not give a specific time for the closures to start, the lanes are expected to reopen in time for the morning commute on Monday, March 11.

During the closure, crews will be working to remove the top layers of the 300 West bridge that runs over I-215 in the area. While crews continue their repair work on the bridge, drivers can expect to detour off I-215 for a brief moment.

UDOT Spokesperson John Gleason said drivers will be detoured to southbound I-15 to exit 297 at 7200 South. From there, drivers can then use the State Street on-ramp to get back onto I-215 eastbound.

Gleason said UDOT crews will place detour signs for drivers to follow to help ease the flow of traffic.
