Ex-Air Force police officer pleads guilty to fraud charges

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A former police officer at Edwards Air Force Base pleaded guilty Monday to mail fraud charges stemming from the submission of fraudulent unemployment insurance claims during the pandemic, according to federal authorities.

Trevon Miller, 31, submitted fraudulent claims between April and June 2020, claiming he was unemployed when he was working as an active-duty U.S. Air Force police officer, according to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice, Eastern District of California.

Miller was issued debit cards for the claims that totaled more than $150,000, the release says. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 at his sentencing in June.
