Evansville police release photos of suspect in credit union robbery

EVANSVILLE – Evansville police have released photos of a person suspected of robbing an East Side credit union last week.

The photos, taken from surveillance footage of Indiana Members Credit Union on Aug. 21, show a "Black male carrying a large walking stick and backpack," EPD said in a post to its Facebook page.

The suspect is described as being between 5'8 and 5'10 with a thin build. They wore a black hoodie, black mask, black shoes and a hat, with sunglasses and ripped blue jeans.

"The suspect demanded money but did not display a weapon," the post reads. "There was a silver Nissan passenger car parked to the south of the bank and was waiting for the suspect."

Officers responded to the credit union around 12:30 p.m., but the suspect had already left the scene, police said.

The robbery caused both Harrison High School and Plaza Park International Prep Academy to go on brief lockdowns, "where classroom instruction and activities continue but no one is able to leave or enter the building," Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp. spokesman Jason Woebkenberg said.

Police haven't released a name or any other details about the possible suspect. They remain at large.
