Evacuations ordered for large fire northeast of Shelton

UPDATE/10:50p.m.:

The Mason County Sherriff’s office posted about two additional sites that have been opened for community members escaping the fire:

According to the post, The Ridge Motorsports Park located at 1060 West Eells Hill Rd. in Shelton has been opened as an evacuation site. Overnight security has been designated to aid anyone parking their RV or are doing dry camping overnight.

The Shelton Family YCMA located at 3101 N Shelton Springs Rd has been opened as an evacuation shelter that will have bathrooms, showers, large, and a KidZone space for throughout Tuesday night and all day Wednesday.

UPDATE/9:00 p.m.:

According to the Mason County Sherriff’s Office, for those displaced by the fires, The Red Cross will be providing shelter at Olympic Middle School located at 800 E K Street in Shelton, starting at 8:00 p.m. tonight.

As of 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night, 250 acres have burned due to the fire said a Central Mason Fire spokesperson.

Evacuations have been ordered for a fire northeast of Shelton, near Rainbow Lake, according to Macecom and the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies are warning people to avoid McEwan Prairie Road for a brush fire that is threatening homes.

Homeowners are being notified to evacuate due to the potential danger.
