Euro rises against dollar ahead of European Central Bank meeting
NEW YORK (AP) -- The euro rose against the dollar Monday ahead of a meeting of the European Central Bank later this week.
The euro rose to $1.3112 in late trading from $1.3072 late Friday.
The ECB is meeting Thursday to set interest rates. Most economists don't expect the central bank to lower its rates.
The dollar also fell against other currencies.
The British pound rose to $1.6107 from $1.6064.
The dollar fell to 87.84 Japanese yen from 88.13 yen, to 0.9216 Swiss franc from 0.9250 Swiss franc and to 98.63 Canadian cents from 98.69 Canadian cents.
