Eureka Springs Transit System to introduce On-Demand Transit

EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Eureka Springs Transit System announced a new service called the ‘On-Demand Transit’ starting May 3, 2024.

According to the press release, this on-demand service will only be available on Friday and Saturday nights from May 3 to Oct. 26 between 6 P.M. to 11 P.M.

The release states that the riders must call the transit office for a pickup at (479) 253-9572. Reservations will not be taken as this is a first come, first served service. The fare will be $6/person per ride and will be payable to the driver.

When a rider calls for a ride, a driver will be dispatched for the pickup. This service is open to all interested riders. The on-demand transit will cover the area of Trolley routes and trolley stops, the release added.

According to the press release, this service is a result of many inquiries about evening transportation.

We believe this will be an affordable and reliable service. It will also be economically sound for Transit to provide this service.

Ken “Smitty” Smith, Transit Director

“Many transit agencies are adding On-Demand service to their transportation agencies and it seems to be a hit with customers. We will look at the service and evaluate whether to expand it in the future”, said Smith.
