Euphoria's Sydney Sweeney shares she cut 'unnecessary' Cassie nude scenes

Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney has said she's never felt pressured to do nude scenes on the hard-hitting HBO show, and revealed that creator Sam Levinson actually cut a few from earlier scripts after she deemed them redundant.
The actor, who plays high school student Cassie Howard, recently recalled how there were a bunch of moments planned out for season two where her character "was supposed to be shirtless".
Prior to filming though, she spoke to Levison saying "I don't really think that's necessary here" and they agreed to switch things up.

"He was like, 'OK, we don't need it,'" she recalled in a new interview with Independent. "I've never felt like Sam has pushed it on me. When I didn't want to do it, he didn't make me."
The 24 year old, who's no stranger to taking her clothes off in the glitzy teen drama, went on to claim that there's a "stigma against actresses who get naked on screen", while no one bats an eye when her male peers take on similar roles.
"When a guy has a sex scene or shows his body, he still wins awards and gets praise. But the moment a girl does it, it's completely different," Sweeney argued, referencing the acclaim she received for playing Steve Zahn and Connie Britton's pouting daughter Olivia in Hawaii-set, murder mystery-esque outing The White Lotus.

"This is something that has bothered me for a while. I'm very proud of my work in Euphoria. I thought it was a great performance. But no one talks about it because I got naked.
"I do The White Lotus, and all of a sudden, critics are paying attention."
Euphoria airs on HBO and HBO Max in the US, and NOW and Sky in the UK.
