Euclid police investigate officer-involved shooting: I-Team

EUCLID, Ohio (WJW) – Euclid police and state agents are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon.

Euclid Police Chief Scott Meyer confirms to the FOX 8 I-Team that the shooting happened in the area of Sims Park around 1:30 p.m.

Police believe the suspect may have been involved in an earlier shooting. A female was injured in that shooting and taken to the hospital.

The chief said officers did fire shots at the suspect.

No officers were hurt.

The suspect was injured and is being taken to the hospital for treatment. The chief said it is not clear if officers struck the suspect or he was injured in the earlier shooting.

“The exact details are not known right now. We are starting to investigate,” Meyer said. “We contacted the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation to investigate the police involved shooting.”

The Office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost confirmed to the I-Team that the BCI’s Special Investigations Unit and Crime Scene Unit are responding.

More details are expected to be released in the next few days.
