EU condemns the Russian presidential ‘elections’ on temporarily occupied territories

Russian presidential "elections", held in Ukrainian temporarily occupied territories, violated the sovereignty of Ukraine, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said, Sky News reported on March 18.

“The elections were not free or fair and were ‘based on repression and intimidation’, EU top diplomat said when speaking before chairing a meeting of EU foreign ministers today.

“All 27 members would issue a statement later today”.

In a statement released this morning, the EU condemned the "illegal" elections held in Russian-occupied oblasts of Ukraine, which "represent yet another manifest violation by Russia of international law".

The EU will never recognize the results of voting in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
