Esteemed Princeton grad who led its queer alumni club charged with possessing child porn

A Princeton grad involved in several of the prestigious school’s organizations, including leading its queer alumni club, was arrested on a child porn possession charge Friday, according to prosecutors.

Roy “Trey” Farmer, 53, was taken into custody after police descended on a condo he owns in Princeton next to the Ivy League’s main entrance, NJ.com reported.

He was charged with a count of third-degree possession of child sexual abuse material after prosecutors received a tip that a Mercer County resident uploaded an item depicting child sexual abuse, according to the outlet.

Farmer’s condo was searched by law enforcement on Friday where investigators seized multiple pieces of possible evidence in the case, the prosecutor’s office said, according to Patch.com.

The 1993 graduate of the elite university became the new president of the Queer Princeton Alumni a few months ago. The organization was previously known as the Bisexual, Transgender, Gay and Lesbian Association.

Other groups Farmer has been a part of include the Princeton University Glee Club Foundation, where he was president, Princeton Internships in Civic Service and Princeton of Southwest Florida, according to an online bio.

“Good things happen when you bring Princetonians together,” Farmer said during an Alumni Spotlight interview.

“There are wonderfully generous interactions of like-minded people who want to spend their time volunteering, and they are all so passionate about it. This is not traditional networking. This is about connecting interesting people doing interesting things in all areas of our society.”

Farmer also earned master’s degrees at both Yale and Harvard.

He worked in the telecom industry before moving to private equity and owned art festivals that span the globe, according to his school profile.

He was a volunteer of Princeton, not an employee, NJ.com reported.

Prosecutors filed a motion to keep Farmer in detention leading up to his trial with the hearing over that matter delayed until next week, Patch.com reported.
